After a year and a half without international traffic, TUI will resume charter traffic from Umeå Airport with flights to Crete in Greece and later this autumn there will also be charter to the Canary Islands from Umeå.
From 31 August, Umeå Airport will once again have international traffic. This through TUI which once a week will fly charters to Crete on Tuesdays. However, it is not TUI themselves that will carry out the flights, but they have hired the Greek flag airline Aegean Airlines for the traffic.
“We are of course very happy to see an increase in demand and the beginning of a recovery for aviation. That TUI returns to our airport and offers our travelers to travel abroad with direct flights before the autumn is important for the recovery in the region “, says Bengt-Ove Lindgren, Airport Manager Umeå Airport.
Ahead of the autumn holidays, international traffic will be expanded, as TUI and Ving will also offer charter flights from Umeå Airport to Gran Canaria from 29 October with departures on Fridays. Here, the Danish Jettime will perform the flights.
Recently, several other regional airports have also regained charter flights, and one of these is Växjö Småland Airport. At Småland Airport, TUI has started flying to Rhodes and later this autumn it will also be possible to fly charters to the Canary Islands from Växjö.
